Emotional Eating

We don’t always eat simply to satisfy hunger. Many of us also turn to food for stress relief, comfort, or as a reward. If you’re an emotional eater, you may feel powerless over your food cravings. When the urge to eat hits, it’s all you can think about. And afterwards, you feel even worse. Not only does the original emotional issue remain, but you also feel guilty for overeating. Instead of turning to food as comfort try reading a book, going for walks, vent to your closest friend or family member or listen to music. I especially find going for a walk and listening to music very therapeutic. When you are not using food as a negative emotional response, you will gain control over both food and your feelings.
